By joining our community, you agree to uphold these Community Guidelines and our mission. D2C and Enterprise Participation

⚠️ IMMERSE serves both individual learners and corporate-sponsored learners.

  • Individual subscribers are directly responsible for compliance with these Community Guidelines.

  • Enterprise learners are expected to comply with these Community Guidelines in addition to their employer’s internal conduct policies.

  • For corporate programs, IMMERSE may involve the organization’s designated Program Administrator when addressing conduct concerns, as appropriate.

General Code of Conduct

In addition to Meta’s Code of Conduct, members must comply with the IMMERSE Terms of Service and the IMMERSE Privacy Policy.

Key requirements of these policies include:

  • Subscribers must be 18 years of age or older. IMMERSE may request age confirmation solely to verify eligibility.

  • Each individual membership is for a single user only; sharing accounts or having multiple accounts per user is prohibited.

  • Instructional or training use of IMMERSE spaces is permitted only when conducted by authorized organizations under a valid IMMERSE enterprise or corporate agreement, and in accordance with the terms of that agreement.

  • Any form of reverse engineering, theft, extraction, or ripping of IMMERSE content is strictly forbidden.

  • Unauthorized marketing, promotion, advertising, solicitation of products, services, events, or invitations within IMMERSE is prohibited.

  • To prevent automatic renewal, users must cancel their subscription before the current billing period ends.

Specific Community Guidelines

Maintaining professionalism is fundamental to the IMMERSE learning experience and the values we uphold throughout your fluency journey on our platform.

These Community Guidelines apply across all IMMERSE interactive environments. This includes Live Classes, Community Practice Scenes, and the IMMERSE Community Facebook Page.

⚠️ Please note that access to certain features, like Live Classes, are plan-dependent. Corporate learners should direct access related questions to their Program Administrator.

1. Respect

Our community is built on global respect and understanding. We encourage members from diverse backgrounds and cultures to engage with integrity and humility throughout their learning journey.

To uphold this value, we expect you to:

  • Practice active listening: Approach others' perspectives without judgment and remain open to learning.

  • Engage constructively: Participate in productive and respectful discussions, and be willing to reconsider your own viewpoints.

  • Respect boundaries: Always ask for consent before sharing another person's private information.

  • Act with empathy: Treat others with the kindness, compassion, and understanding you would expect in return. Be mindful of the impact of your words and actions.

Unacceptable Conduct (Examples of Violations)

  • Impersonation: Pretending to be other community members or guides.

  • Abusive Communication and Content: Using or displaying speech, behavior, or content that is defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, sexist, racist, discriminatory, or illegal.

  • Harassment and Disruption: Engaging in harassment, bullying, inflammatory actions, abuse, disruptive trolling, and/or threats of any kind.

  • Personal Space and Physical Boundaries: Invading another member's personal space, engaging in physical behavior that would be inappropriate in a real-life setting, or failing to respect others' requests regarding personal space.

  • Illegal Behavior Promotion: Promoting, encouraging, or participating in depictions of illegal actions (e.g., simulating a bank robbery, pretending to sell or use illegal drugs, simulating assault).

2. Dignity, Diversity, & Inclusion

We encourage healthy discussions and the sharing of diverse viewpoints. Please treat all opinions with respect and avoid devaluing the thoughts or comments of others, even when you disagree.

To foster an inclusive environment:

  • Embrace Diversity: Actively treat all students, faculty, and staff with respect, care, and fairness, regardless of their background or perspective (including race, class, nationality, gender, sexuality, ability, religion, or political affiliation).

  • Promote Inclusion: Ensure your peers feel welcome and included in all lessons, events, meetups, and social gatherings.

  • Be Mindful of Language: Be considerate and respectful of others' linguistic backgrounds during language practice, remembering that not all learners share your native language.

Unacceptable Conduct (Examples of Violations)

  • Dismissing, arguing with, or being consistently impolite to another user in IMMERSE or on our Community Page, thereby preventing them from expressing their thoughts.

  • Refusing to collaborate with or complaining about an activity partner based on characteristics such as their accent, proficiency level, gender, age, race, or prior experience.

  • Declaring another user's beliefs, values, thoughts, or opinions to be incorrect or foolish.

3. Maintain a Positive Learning Environment

We are committed to fostering a safe, fun, and supportive learning environment that promotes growth, mutual respect, and a strong sense of belonging.

We encourage you to:

  • Offer assistance to your peers and ask for help

  • Engage in idea exchange

  • Support new members and those who may need additional help

Unacceptable Conduct (Examples of Violations)

  • Distracting Audio and Environment:

    • Joining a class from a loud environment without muting

    • Talking to someone in your real-life environment during class activities

  • Lack of Participation and Engagement:

    • Not participating in activities without prior authorization from the Guide

    • Failing to engage in assigned partner or group activities, including not responding or remaining disengaged.

    • Repeatedly disrupting the session by challenging instructions or redirecting the lesson off-topic.

  • Disruptive In-Scene Interaction:

    • Talking over or interrupting others

    • Interacting with objects or scenes in a disruptive way

ℹ️ Live Session Moderation Authority

IMMERSE Guides are empowered to maintain a safe and productive learning environment. During live sessions, Guides may:

  • Mute participants

  • Remove participants from a session

  • Redirect or pause activities as needed

Serious or repeated issues may be documented and escalated to Customer Support for follow-up.

4. Privacy

IMMERSE does not require learners to share personal information as part of the learning experience, beyond what is necessary to create an account and verify eligibility.

Some IMMERSE activities may invite learners to share personal experiences or details as part of language practice. Members are encouraged to share only what they feel comfortable disclosing and may choose to keep responses general or hypothetical. Sharing sensitive, confidential, or private information is never expected.

🚨 Members must not share personal information about others that they learn during their time in IMMERSE.

To ensure a respectful and private environment, please:

  • Obtain consent before sharing any sensitive or personal details that another person has disclosed to you.

  • Communicate your own boundaries regarding the information you wish to keep private. Unless explicit boundaries are set, all personal information should be treated as private.

  • Do not record or externally share IMMERSE sessions or interactions without explicit authorization from IMMERSE and all participants involved.

  • Be thoughtful and cautious when asking for personal details (e.g., financial status, employment, relationship status); only inquire if the information has been freely offered and is clearly related to the activity.

Examples of Breaches of Confidentiality

  • Sharing Personally Identifiable Information: Distributing another member's private contact details, such as email addresses or phone numbers.

  • Doxxing and Unauthorized Research: Searching for and publicly posting information about another member that was mentioned in class, such as linking to their employee profile on social media.

  • Disclosing Private Details: Sharing personal information about another member's family (like dates of birth, locations, or professions) learned during a class discussion in an outside setting.

  • Revealing Sensitive Personal Status: Discussing another user’s confidential status, including their salary, relationship status, or medical history.

Suspension/Termination:

When a violation is reported or observed, IMMERSE reviews the situation on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the nature and severity of the conduct.

IMMERSE may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Issue a formal warning

  • Remove a member from a live session

  • Temporarily suspend access to the platform

  • Terminate and deactivate a membership

How violations are addressed:

  • Staff may document observed or reported misconduct during sessions or through member reports

  • Depending on the circumstances, actions may be taken immediately or after review

  • Certain violations, such as account sharing, underage use, or egregious misconduct, may result in immediate action and direct outreach to the member without prior warning

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have private (DM, PM, email, SMS, etc.) conversations with Guides outside of the IMMERSE app?

To maintain professional boundaries and transparency, please keep all communications with IMMERSE staff in public or official channels. Guides will redirect private inquiries to appropriate public channels or encourage you to contact the Support Team.

Can I use IMMERSE to teach my own private classes?

No. Individual users may not use IMMERSE to teach private classes, lessons, or paid instruction.

Instructional or training use is permitted only for authorized organizations operating under a valid IMMERSE enterprise or corporate agreement.

If you are interested in a research partnership, school contract, or institutional use, please contact [email protected].

Can I use profanity (swear words) in IMMERSE?

IMMERSE is a professional learning environment. While we understand that occasional, accidental profanity may occur, profanity becomes a violation of our Community Guidelines if it is:

  • Directed at another person

  • Repeated or excessive

  • Used in a malicious, aggressive, or disruptive manner

Violations may result in a warning, temporary suspension, or account deactivation.

Can a husband and wife share an account, even if they're learning different languages or at varying proficiency levels?

No. Each individual must have their own account and subscription. Account sharing violates our Terms of Service, undermines the integrity of the learning experience, and creates operational issues within the platform.

What should I do if I’ve been suspended?

If your account has been suspended, you will receive an email from IMMERSE Support with details regarding the suspension. To be considered for reinstatement, you must contact [email protected] and confirm your agreement to comply with the Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Reinstatement decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.

⚠️ If you witness misconduct, we encourage you to maintain a safe and respectful environment by reporting the incident to IMMERSE at [email protected]. Our team will review and address the situation.
