Casting from Your VR Headset

Allow others a firsthand observation of what an IMMERSE class entails, giving them a glimpse into your experience to decide if they want to trial the platform themselves.

What is casting?

To allow others to view a VR experience in real-time, you can cast the headset view from one IMMERSE account to a separate device. This process enables a live viewing of the virtual reality environment without the account owner violating any of our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.

🚨Shared Account Policy

Please note that individual memberships cannot have multiple users at any point. The communal quality of our educational experience is dependent upon our users being properly matched with other users of similar learner levels. Multiple users on one membership will negatively impact the IMMERSE community.

⚠️Please note that viewing a casted VR experience may result in nausea or dizziness if movements are rapid and erratic.

Frequently Asked Questions

ℹ️ If you are experiencing issues with casting from your headset, we recommend reaching out to Meta Support directly as they will be better equipped to run diagnostics.

Can my friend participate with me if I cast my live class?

  • To avoid disturbing the class, you will need to mute yourself if they wish to communicate with you so that their voice is not picked up by your headset microphone and broadcast to the rest of the class.

If I cast an AI-lesson, can my friend participate with me?

  • Absolutely. They can help you think through responses together before giving them, or figure out the controls together. Keep in mind though that if recording responses, it may not be accurate if more than one person is speaking at a time.

Will audio from IMMERSE play on the TV or external device?

  • Yes, be sure to have it turned down or mute yourself when not speaking so that your headset microphone doesn’t pick up this external audio as background noise.

Can other participants see that I’m casting the experience?

  • No.

Will casting impact in-headset performance?

  • Casting involves the transfer of data between your headset and the receiving device. Due to the speed of this connection and data transfer, you might notice lag, freezing, or a decrease in resolution on either your headset or the device you are casting to.

Will casting reduce headset battery life?

  • Potentially. Casting an experience for an extended period puts a strain on your device, which is likely to reduce your battery life below its normal duration.
